Liftapalooza 2016: Ali Scrapbook Challenge

I'm back in the saddle again.... the scrapbooking saddle that is!  With two under the age of two and a super-energetic boy who just turned 7, I have ZERO time to scrapbook.  This week I had a bad case of "create-a-page" itch and discovered Scrapbook Challenge's Liftapalooza post at just the right time.  I have been following them for a couple months now and was excited to try a challenge.

Is this my best work?  I hope not!  Is it the best I can do right now with my current life demands?  You bet.  I am hoping to keep up with all the fun at Liftapalooza!

Holiday Card

I made this Holiday card using the "Christmas Borders" cling stamp set from Recollections found at Michaels and the "Merry Christmas" Collection from Echo Park for the patterned paper. I loved both the stamp set and paper and used them both all Christmas long! The stamp was used with white embossing powder onto craft paper. I also embossed the top of the card with a damask embossing folder from Hobby Lobby. It's hard to tell but the card actually folds down with the ribbon holding it closed. I white-line dashed the border for a finished look.

"Pocketful of Sunshine" card

Sorry for the blurry picture - YUCK!

The idea for this card came from Natasha Bedingfield's song "Pocketful of Sunshine". Initially I was going to make the pocket look more "jean-like" but the patterned paper screamed for some bright blue. I free-handed the pocket's flaps by using the Martha Stewart scoring board and attached using double-sided red tape.

The sentiment was cut using the Cricut and Sure Cuts a Lot 2. I cut the words out of pink vinyl. I used the negative part of the vinyl on the top and the letters for "Sunshine" on the pocket.

The sun was attached with some yellow rick-rack and sits inside the pocket for a little surprise. The file is from Lettering Delights Banner Day svg file. I first cut it in orange cardstock and than yellow. I also white-line dashed it and added a yellow button to the middle.
