"Smile" Card - CPS 5th Anniversary Day 3 Sketch Challenge

Finally caught up with all the CPS sketches that I missed - yahoo!!! This card I made for Day 3. I was inspired by the scalloped border and knew I wanted to do some clouds. I cut the 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" scallop square using the Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot 2. I layered it on a basic white square card that was a little smaller than the scallop piece so that you couldn't see the white cardstock. I then added some layers of patterned paper from the Fine & Dandy Collection and the Modern Homemaker Collection. My sister, Emily, gracious gave me a piece of her favorite blue sparkly trim to add with a flower in the middle made with 1' Gluber, tulle trim, and some flower die cuts I have had forever (I think they are both K&Company)

I made the sentiment using the Vintage Label punch from McGill and the Small Talk stamp set from My Creative Time stamped in a brown ink from Close To My Heart. It looked great on the lined pattern cardstock also from the Fine & Dandy collection. White-dotting around the edge of the lable using a gel pen added the final touch.

Now I am ready for sketch 6!!

"Boo" Rosette Card - CPS 5th Anniversary Day 2 Sketch Challenge

I finally got a chance to try out my new 2" Glubers and Crop-a-Dile today! Although Halloween is far away, I couldn't resist making a spooky card for the CPS 5th Anniversary Day 2 Sketch Challenge. The patterned cardstocks are both from the "Boo-ville" Collection from Little Yellow Bicycle. I also added some scalloped-edged purple cardstock stamp and embossed with polka dots. My sentiment is from the "Small Talk" clear stamp set from My Creative Time - love this stamp! The orange frame was punched using the Vintage Label punch from McGill. I then had to use a craft knife to cut out the "inside" to make it into a frame.

Here are the steps on making the rosette:
- First, I took a 2" Gluber and lined the entire circle with black tulle trim.
- Then I cut a 1" x 12" piece of green cardstock
- Score every 1/2 inch on the green cardstock using a scoring board
- Accordion fold the cardstock and punch a hole in the bottom part of the entire piece
- Take string and string through your punched holes tying it tightly together
- Make a rosette with the accordian and glue the beginning and end pieces together
- I then distressed the rosette with black ink and glued it to the black tulle
- Add an adorable embellishment like the sparkly spider I have on top

Throwback Challenge for Sept. 1st - My Creative Time

Here is a card I made for the Throwback Challenge Emma posted on My Creative Time on Sept. 1st. The challenge: a Cricutless Challenge to make a card using purple, orange, green, & black. I used my new "Small Talk" stamp set for the border and sentiment. The patterned paper is called "Witches Brew" from Cloud 9. The ghost was stamped and embossed in black and then cut out. I added orange to his feet and some crystal Stickles. (The ghost was a $1 stamp from Michael's!)

My Creative Time's "Small Talk" Stamp Set

I bought my first stamp set by Emma from My Creative Time and absolutely LOVE IT! The set is called "Small Talk" and features a 3" x 3" dotted border along with various phrases that fit in the blank portion of the border. The stamps work great and I found it pretty easy to line up the phrase with the border. I am now a Small Talk stamping fool! The set is extremely versatile and can be used all year long. This is a "Must Have" for card makers.
