"Smile" Card - CPS 5th Anniversary Day 3 Sketch Challenge

Finally caught up with all the CPS sketches that I missed - yahoo!!! This card I made for Day 3. I was inspired by the scalloped border and knew I wanted to do some clouds. I cut the 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" scallop square using the Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot 2. I layered it on a basic white square card that was a little smaller than the scallop piece so that you couldn't see the white cardstock. I then added some layers of patterned paper from the Fine & Dandy Collection and the Modern Homemaker Collection. My sister, Emily, gracious gave me a piece of her favorite blue sparkly trim to add with a flower in the middle made with 1' Gluber, tulle trim, and some flower die cuts I have had forever (I think they are both K&Company)

I made the sentiment using the Vintage Label punch from McGill and the Small Talk stamp set from My Creative Time stamped in a brown ink from Close To My Heart. It looked great on the lined pattern cardstock also from the Fine & Dandy collection. White-dotting around the edge of the lable using a gel pen added the final touch.

Now I am ready for sketch 6!!

Our Wish 4 You Page - Sketches With A Twist January Challenge

I just had to try out this sketch I found on a site called Sketches With a Twist. I saw the spot for journaling and just knew that my new October Afternoon "Flashcards" Cardstock would work perfect. I also tied in some pattern cardstock from the "Modern Homemaker" paper pad. I used Sure Cuts A Lot 2 to cut the notebook paper accents, the green-striped piece, and the tag. I had a blast making this page!
I love these quotes - so true and everything I want my son to aspire to do!

This was the original sketch for the January 2012 challenge by Sketches With A Twist -- the twist was to use 2 different fonts in the title.

Vintage Valentine Card - Deconstructed Sketch No. 36

I was looking for another challenge to do today and found a great website called the deconstructed sketch. The challenge was to make a card using the sketch below. I knew I wanted to make a vintage-looking card and use my favorite paper collection "Modern Homemaker" from October Afternoon. I made the button flower from a 1 1/2" Gluber, ribbon from my Grandma Hildie's collection, and a button I had one from a Crop Party. The yellow cardstock was embossed using the Swiss Dots Embossing folder from Cuttlebug. I also used a generic frame svg file I have to make the blue base for the "recipe" paper. I plan on giving this card (and a big smooch) to my hubby on Valentine's Day!
